If you are suffering with pain, fatigue, swelling, indigestion, acid reflux or don’t have the spark you used to have, taking a few enzymes may dramatically improve your health. Enzymes really are the spark of life that help to maintain our health, without them we would slowly die. There are hundreds of thousands of enzymes in every organ, tissue and fluid in the body. They work silently to keep your heart beating, lungs functioning and to activate your muscles and nerves. One way to improve your energy level and overall health is to increase the amount of enzymes in your body. There are different ways to supplement your diet with enzymes, and many different types of enzymes that have different tasks in the body
.
There are three types of enzymes:
1. Food Enzymes are found naturally in All Raw Foods and help to breakdown the food you eat as you begin to chew and break apart the food.
2. Digestive Enzymes are made by the pancreas, in saliva, stomach, and intestinal cells to help in the digestion of certain foods.
3. Metabolic Enzymes act as catalysts and help run biochemical processes in the body and build tissues.
There are four main types of food enzymes:
1. Amylases help to break down carbohydrates like potatoes, pasta, rice, flour.
2. Cellulases help break down fiber in fruits and vegetables.
3. Lipases help break down fats.
4. Proteases help break down proteins in meat, beans, etc.
You can increase enzymes in your body by eating foods that are fresh and not cooked over 118 degrees. The simple choice to eat more raw, slightly steamed or vegetables that are cooked quickly in a wok can add enzymes to your body and help with digestion. If you are in relatively good health a food enzyme taken with meals can help breakdown the food you eat into usable parts. Since the enzymes are helping with digestion and helping the body to work easier you may have more energy.
If you have pain and multiple health problems you will see a quick change in how you feel by taking more powerful enzyme formulations called Systemic Enzymes. These enzymes are combinations of enzymes often including serrapeptase (a strong protease). Taken on an empty stomach they help to lyse (break down) excess proteins (parts of dead cells and fibrin) that are congesting your skin, muscles, bones and organs creating many of your health problems.
As a Lymphedema therapist I work with swollen, protein filled limbs or body parts that are susceptible to severe infections like cellulites. When the lymphatic system in a swollen limb, or body part, is activated the protein rich fluid is reduced, alleviating pain and infections. Systemic enzymes, more powerful than digestive enzymes, help to normalize lymphatic function by eliminating excess proteins that can congest the tiny lymphatic vessels or nodes. Activating your lymphatic system and taking systemic enzymes are a powerful combination to quickly reduce excess protein in the body and improve your health.
