Very rarely do we associate chronic low back pain with overly acidic kidneys. Your kidneys are in your lower back on either side of your spine, they are the size of your fists. Half of each kidney sits under your lower ribs and half sits below your ribs in the low back. The kidneys sit under your lumbar spine and ribs which are covered by ligaments, muscles and layers of fascia (dense web like tissue). When the kidneys become overly acidic these ligaments, muscles and fascia can also become very acidic, creating tightness and pain.
When you eat a diet high in acid foods (meat, processed grains, whole wheat) are sedentary, and are dehydrated your kidneys and surrounding tissues (muscles and fascia) can become full of acid waste and proteins (parts of dead cells). This buildup of acid waste can congest and constrict the kidneys limiting their circulation and ability to function. This can lead to different diseases of the kidneys from kidney stones, low urine output, polycystic kidneys, kidney cancer or create a need for dialysis. Those on dialysis need to eat more vegetables for their protein requirements (vegetables have protein). They must be very careful when changing their diet or exercise regimes and must work with their physician.
You can alleviate your low back pain and reduce your risk of kidney disease by reducing acid waste in the kidneys and body by balancing your internal body. If you have chronic low back pain, no matter how minimal, start taking steps to make your body more alkaline. When you are more alkaline or in balance, your kidneys and body are less constricted which increases circulation and detoxification of acid waste and excess proteins. If you already have a problem with your kidneys, you must initially avoid any type of intense detoxification because the waste that will be produced can overwhelm your already compromised kidneys even further.
Start off slowly by beginning to eat more alkaline foods (vegetables, fruit, almonds and Brazil nuts), drinking more alkaline water, exercise and deep breath. Self-activating your lymphatic system plays an important role in improving circulation in order to detox acid waste and excess proteins, but should be added slowly as you become more alkaline and hydrated. Systemic enzymes can be taken to help reduce the buildup of protein in the body and kidneys. Enzymes work by lysing (breaking down) scar tissue and excess proteins like parts of dead cells and fibrin. Help your low back pain today and reduce your risk of kidney disease.
